Sound meditation, also known as sound healing or sound bath nowadays is one of the most popular approach that is being used in many Bali Yoga Retreat. The approach of sound meditation is all about practicing to listen to the outer and inner worlds.
Sound is energy and energy is the base material to be converted into form or material. Everything was created from the primal sound: “In the beginning was the Word, the Logos, Shabda or Aum.” The first holy sound is the first movement of vibration. This is where we come from and where we shall return.
Everything in the nature consist of vibration. Sounds consist of audible vibration. Of all senses, the ear is the most precise and never sleep. The effect of sound is independent of consciousness. The influence of sound and noise in the body, mind and soul has been seriously underestimated until recently. The negative effect of industrial noise and machinery, household equipment, transportation and so on, are becoming more evident in increasing occurrences of irritation, aggression, depression, and stress in physical and emotional pain.
Fortunately, in the face of all these developments, we have the opportunity to learn and practice harmonizing potential of sound to achieve harmony between ourselves to the environment.
Sound meditation or sound healing is primarily a process of inner depth. It is a process to invite a person to listen to him or herself and bringing him/ her into contact with inner quality of trust. This process helps to regain a sense of self-worth, and promote process of physical and emotional recovery.
The path of surrender through sound leads to an awareness of timelessness, this is the sense of here and now, the present moment. It is the time and place where solution and answers peacefully coexist with the problem and questions filling up our reality. If we choose to believe that there are many problems and questions in life, we must also believe that the answer and solutions can be found in ourselves.
Everyone has the ability to bring peace to the spirit, to enter the silent and to know. The great benefit of listening to the heart, the soul and inner-self (or whatever you wish to call it), is that you know, without any explanation or proof. You draw on wisdom rather than on information that is usually wrapped with dubious interest, or dressed up and disguised to conceal hidden defect.
We are all like the musical instrument: if the instrument is not properly tuned, the skills you have learned will lead to frustration instead of success. In another hand, well-tuned instrument caresses the ear, sound healing benefits the body, mind and soul.
